About Us

The CIC-Toronto branch is a large and very active community with a diverse membership that is representative of our city and with programming aimed at providing forums for far reaching public policy discussions. 

During the 2008 - 2009 season our branch held over twenty events on topics ranging from our trade relationships with the US and the EU, to examining Canada's environmental and arctic policies, our military mission in Afghanistan, the decline of the NA auto industry, is it possible to end world poverty, how the international community should deal with dictators like Mugabe, Canada's changing relationship with China, and the historic 2008 US Presidential election.
 
The 2009 - 2010 season promises to provide another quality line-up of events.  All upcoming events can be found on our branch website's Programming page

  • An International Mayoral Panel examining global urban issues
  • New Models of Citizen Engagement
  • Food: Sovereignty, Scarcity & Stability
  • Water: Will that be the cause of the next big conflict?
  • Tackling Climate Change: Who is leading Canada's agenda?
  • Nuclear Power: the answer for our future energy needs?
  • The future of Canada's oil and gas industry
  • Renewing Canada's infrastructure
  • Canada's trade relationship with the EU
  • Canada's trade relationship with the USA
  • A series of Federal Minister, and Consul General Keynote Speaker Events.
