Third Annual CIC Gala Dinner

Each fall, the Annual CIC Gala Dinner highlights an issue of major importance for Canada and for the global community. The dinner brings together members of Canada's business, academic, media and policy communities to honour a distinguished global figure with the CIC Globalist of the Year Award. Proceeds from the Annual CIC Gala Dinner go towards funding CIC research programs, which enhances Canada’s contribution to international development and Canadian policy priorities.

Mr. Jim Balsillie and Mr. Peter Munk hosted the Third Annual CIC Gala Dinner on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Toronto. This year’s theme focused on the economic crisis, with particular emphasis on its worrying implications for the stability of an open international trading system, vital for a sustained economic recovery. Mr. Pascal Lamy, recently elected to a second term as Director-General of the World Trade Organization, was the recipient of the 2009 CIC Globalist of the Year Award.
